Cashews, pistachios and other types of nuts

The most popular choice among our customers is cashew nuts in the W180 grade. It is one of the largest size grades: the kernels are big, whole and have a gently buttery taste. They work in a bowl next to a glass of wine, in salads and in homemade granola alike. We also use them in some of our gift boxes.

We offer pistachios in two forms. Shelled pistachios are handy for baking, desserts and pesto, because you skip the fiddly shells altogether. Our roasted salted pistachios, sold as the Extra grade, are the classic film-night snack. Roasting deepens their aroma and a little salt brings out their natural sweetness. Other types of nuts in our range include:

• medium-sized Brazil nuts: creamy kernels with a rich flavour that you only need a few of,
• pecan nuts: softer and sweeter than walnuts, excellent in pies and with porridge,

• cherry-flavoured almonds for anyone who wants something a little sweeter.

Planning to buy Brazil nuts as part of a balanced diet? Moderation is the rule here, as a few nuts a day is plenty. Whatever kind you choose, store it somewhere cool in a sealed container so it keeps its crunch for longer. In the summer months an opened bag is best kept in the fridge.

Nut mix and roasted nuts for every day

Not everyone wants to pick just one kind. For those customers we stock mixed nuts and raisins, which combine several kinds of kernels with the sweetness of dried grapes. A nut mix like this makes an ideal snack for work, a hike or a long car journey. Roasted nuts have a more intense flavour than raw ones, so many people prefer them as a snack on their own, while raw kernels are better suited to the kitchen: porridge, smoothies or homemade bars.

Pecans caramelise beautifully on a tart, pine nuts only need a minute in a dry pan before going into basil pasta, and soaked cashews blend into a creamy dairy-free sauce. Roughly chopped Brazil nuts add crunch to yoghurt or oatmeal. And if you want to treat someone, nicely packed premium nuts with a piece of chocolate or Turkish delight will be appreciated far more than yet another box of chocolates.

Our basic requirement is simple: whole kernels, with no broken pieces or dust. With every delivery we check appearance, smell and taste. The nuts must not be bitter or soft. We pack them so that neither air nor moisture can get in, because oxidation is the most common reason nuts lose their flavour. As a result they reach you as fresh as when they left our warehouse.
