Premium Lokum

Turkish delight and oriental sweets

A piece of lokum with coffee carries a little of the centuries-old tradition of oriental confectioners. Soft, springy cubes dusted with sugar or coconut, packed with nuts and fruit flavours, were served to guests as a sign of hospitality. For our range we have chosen premium kinds built on quality ingredients: pistachios, hazelnuts and walnuts, pomegranate and dark chocolate.

In this category you will find classic Turkish delight, modern lokum rolls, desserts in the style of baklava and other traditional treats such as white nougat with almonds and Georgian churchkhela. All of them can be ordered with delivery across Slovakia or picked up in person at our store.

Turkish delight and rahat lokum with nuts

Traditional rahat lokum is made by cooking starch with sugar and flavourings until the mixture takes on its typical springy texture. You can recognise quality because it is soft without sticking to your teeth, and the nuts inside taste fresh. Our range includes Turkish delight with nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts and dried cornelian cherries) as well as lokum with orange, chocolate and hazelnuts, and a Dubai-style pistachio Turkish delight.

A popular newcomer is lokum rolls, long fingers filled with pistachios that slice beautifully into thin rounds. You can choose from these flavours:

  • pistachio and pomegranate,
  • pistachio and orange,
  • pistachio and apple,
  • pomegranate, cornelian cherry and pistachio,
  • kadaif and pistachio, with the crunchy pastry threads you may know from Dubai chocolate.

Can't decide? Go for the Lokum Dubai mix. A Turkish delight mix like this contains several kinds at once and is perfect for a tasting or as a gift for someone whose favourite flavours you do not know yet. Pomegranate Turkish delight, with its gentle tartness, is a good place to start for anyone new to lokum.

Lokum baklava and other oriental sweets

A speciality of our range is lokum baklava, Turkish delight with the flavour of traditional baklava. We offer it with pistachios and dark chocolate, and with pistachios, raspberry jam and a blueberry note. The chocolate Turkish delight version looks like a small cake on the plate and works well with coffee or tea after dinner.

Among oriental sweets we also include treats from other corners of the world. Our nougat with almonds is the dense white confection that Slovaks know as Turkish honey, full of whole nuts. Churchkhela comes from Georgia: walnuts are threaded onto a string, dipped repeatedly into thickened grape or pomegranate juice and dried. We offer it with walnuts and with pomegranate.

Many people link traditional Turkish sweets, Middle Eastern sweets and similar exotic sweets with travel. Customers tell us they first tried lokum on holiday and then searched for it in vain back home. Partly for them, we decided to offer Turkish sweets in a way that does not require a plane ticket, in our e-shop and in our store.

How do you tell authentic Turkish delight from a cheap imitation? Real lokum has a short, understandable ingredient list, there is no shortage of nuts, and the flavour is not masked by artificial aromas. Cheaper versions tend to be rubbery, overly sweet and only hint at nuts. That is why we taste every kind when choosing suppliers and check how the lokum looks when cut. The filling should be visible at first glance.

How to serve and store lokum

At room temperature lokum tastes its best, as its softness and aroma come through fully. It goes perfectly with strong black coffee, mint tea or a sweet dessert wine. Cut lokum rolls with a sharp knife dipped in hot water and the slices will be smooth and show off the pistachio filling.

Keep an opened pack in a sealed container somewhere dry and cool, but not in the fridge, where lokum would harden. Stored this way it stays soft and tasty for several weeks.

Turkish delight gift box

A box of lokum is one of those gifts that delights almost everyone: grandparents, colleagues and business partners alike. It looks festive, is less ordinary than chocolates and is easy to share. For the holidays we recommend a mix of flavours; for birthdays, lokum rolls or lokum baklava, which feel like a small dessert. We will gladly prepare a premium Turkish delight gift box to order, completed with dried fruit, chocolate or churchkhela.
